Hard Back blades permit greater tension, improved blade rigidity and straighter, more accurate cuts.  These blades also provide greater blade strength allowing higher feed pressure and higher cutting rates.  They are ideal for interrupted cuts such as pipe, tube, and channel stock.  Use on standard vertical and horizontal metal cutting band saws.  The 1/2" wide blades are excellent for straight and mild contour cuts on vertical machines and cutoff operations on common 4" x 6" horizontal saws.
